Recently the Board of
County Supervisors (BOCS) has passed four resolutions which are noteworthy. I
wanted to provide the language of the resolutions in case anyone would want to
see the language that was adopted by the BOCS.
1.
Resolution 10-652 – Proposed Use of Federal Stimulus Funding Not Yet Allocated
to Prince William County
This resolution states that the School system will not be permitted to budget
Federal Stimulus funds from the Education Jobs Funding Bill at this time, but
the BOCS is interested in discussing the use of this federal money for the
development of the Fiscal Year 2012 budget and when the economic situation,
state and federal funding and the complete list of school needs are known to the
School Board, the BOCS, and the community.
2.
Resolution10-646 – Reaffirmation of the Rural Area Pursuant to the Adopted 1998
Comprehensive Plan
This resolution reaffirms the Rural Area and the characteristics adopted
pursuant to that action taken as a part of the 1998 Comprehensive Plan update,
and as it may have subsequently been modified or interpreted, it being the
intent of the BOCS to not substantively change or alter that characteristics of
the Rural Area as created by the 1998 Comprehensive Plan without the benefit of
a full public hearing process including staff review, Planning Commission
recommendation and full and appropriate citizen input.
3.
Resolution10-606 – Reaffirm BOCS Support of Haymarket Hospital Proposal
This resolution declares the support of Novant Health in its effort to construct
the Prince William Hospital – Haymarket to provide quality healthcare to the
citizens of Prince William County.
4.
Ordinance 10-32 – Adopt Amendments to the County Code: New Section 13-412;
Prohibition on Distribution on Handbills and Other Literature and Solicitation
for Sale of Service and Merchandise to Occupants of Motor Vehicles on Roadways
in the County
This ordinance makes it illegal to distribute handbills or other literature to
occupants of vehicles on public highways, roadways and medians in the County as
well as the solicitation of sales or services and merchandise to occupants of
vehicles on public highways, roadways and medians in the County.
