Supervisor John T. Stirrup's Biography
The voters of the Gainesville District elected John Stirrup to his first term on November 4, 2003 to represent the Gainesville District of Prince William County and he was re-elected on November 6, 2007, to a second term. Additionally, Supervisor Stirrup was elected by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board for the year 2008. Supervisor Stirrup is a graduate of Seton Hall University. He represents businesses in the third party logistics industry. He previously worked for one of the Big Five accounting firms, served as chief of staff for a Member of Congress, served as a political appointee in three Cabinet Departments in the Reagan Administration and worked as a commercial real estate broker. In addition to his professional work, Supervisor Stirrup has also served the citizens of Prince William as a member of the Prince William County Park Authority Board of Directors and the Prince William County Zoning Ordinance Review Committee. He serves on the Museum of the Cold War, Board of Directors. He is a member of the Gainesville Ruritans, Optimist Club of Manassas and the Prince William Republican Committee. Supervisor Stirrup is married twenty years to his wife Heidi, and they have one daughter, Sarah, and reside on a small horse farm in the Rural Crescent. Supervisor Stirrup holds quarterly Town Hall meetings. These meetings are designed to update the community on current issues within the County and the Gainesville District.
